Sheila’s early love of art led her to a career capturing people’s lives in pictures. After several years working for two top San Francisco photo studios, she branched out on her own in late 2007. She brings a sharp eye to any event, whether recording the look of surprise on a child’s face, or a glimpse of the best man checking his notes one last time.
Sheila’s obsession with photography began in high school and infused the rest of her education. She spent her junior year of college studying fine art and portrait photography in Ireland. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco to study graphic design and fashion photography at the Miami Ad School. Still based in San Francisco, she is available to shoot worldwide and loves traveling, especially to visit her large family. Photographing her nephews and new niece inspires her.
My goal in wedding photography is to put everyone at ease with my being there. I’m a fly on the wall during the ceremony, I’m laughing along with you and your wedding party on location, working amid the swirl on the dance floor, and even hugging your grandparents goodbye when I’m through at the end of the night. I capture those moments as they happen, how they happen.
Sheila’s approach to wedding photography is fresh, stylish and hip, all with an eye toward remaining timeless. She has shot extensively around San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Her recent destination weddings have been in Chicago, San Diego, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Vermont and Mexico. And she’s comfortable in any setting, under any circumstances. Whether in churches, at vineyards or at hotels, anything from Chinese banquets to Hindi ceremonies – she has documented it all. Sheila custom-designs wedding albums according to her clients’ tastes. No two albums are alike, and each is truly a work of art. Her packages are set up to provide clients with the ultimate coverage on their day, and the best part is, the clients keep the digital files. She also offers a la carte pricing so clients can create a package around their day and budget.
Portrait photography is very special to me. I love watching my clients grow – some of them starting from their mom's bellies! It's exciting, helping to capture memories of the special moments and people of their lives.
Sheila's approach to portrait photography is relaxed and not rushed. Whether her subjects are children, couples, expectant mothers or even pets, she likes to take her time making sure everyone is comfortable in order to get "the shot." She can work in-home, where clients are their most comfortable, or on location, to give them an especially meaningful or beautiful setting. She has an instinctive eye for detail – focusing on little feet and fingers, shoes or special toys; nothing is left out. She shoots in a candid fashion, capturing genuine expressions and "family moments" using warm, flattering, natural light. For clients who want more formal photographs, she also has solid white or black backdrops for a “studio” look.
She’s also available for events, corporate headshots, group photos, as well as fashion, product, and architectural photography. Please contact Sheila to learn more, or visit her blog to see some of her recent work.
